FAQ

Your first visit
We are thrilled that you’ll be joining us! Know that wherever you are in your yoga journey, YOU ARE READY NOW. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early for your first class to check in, get a tour of MPY and meet the community! We have a water cooler so bring your own water bottle! We have 2 restrooms and a shower.

What’s the most important thing I need to know?
The most important thing to know is that YOU ARE READY NOW! No matter what your background is and no matter what has led you to this moment, you already have everything you need for a fun, life-giving, and transformative experience with yoga. Please be kind and gentle with yourself as you begin this journey. The more you practice, the more you will grow. We are here to support you and lead you to your greatness!

If I arrive late, will I still be able to get into class?
In order to support our teachers in starting and ending class on time, and provide the best possible experience for all of our students, we ask that you be ready to practice with your mat set up by the time class starts. We lock our doors once class begins!

Yoga is really hot. Is that true?
Yes! Our studio temperature is set to 90 degrees. The benefits of the heat are awesome: more sweat, deeper stretching, a bigger and easier range of muscle movement, and more rest and rejuvenation by the end of the practice. A bonus? Heat also helps to prevent injury. Come rinse out and sweat with us!

I’m not flexible, can I still do yoga?
Yoga at MPY is all about growth, connection and love. Yoga is for every body. Whether you can do the full splits or barely touch your toes, we practice together to have fun, find peace and be happy.

Should I eat before I do yoga?
A light snack such as fruit, granola, a few almonds, or some yogurt can offer a much-needed boost of energy within 90 minutes of class. Definitely make sure you are hydrated when you arrive, as well as throughout your practice.

How much does it cost for me to attend a class?
At MPY we offer new student specials and monthly memberships as well as class packages and individual classes. Our most popular packages are listed below:

  1. New Student Special – 1 Free Week
  2. MPY Membership $99 per month – (1st $30 for 30 Days)

Where do I park?
Garfield and Harriet Aves have tons of free parking. There is also a pay lot across the street from MPY, right behind Fuji Ya.

I’m new – how do I learn more about the poses?
Without a doubt, the best way to learn about your yoga practice is to get on your mat, so keep coming to class! The more you practice, the more the poses will become second nature. We highly recommend private lessons (LINK). Our instructors are always available to answer your questions before or after class. We are excited and honored to help you grow in your practice, so please let us know how we can support you!

I have an injury. Can I still practice yoga?
Please talk with your physician or medical professional about any injuries or health concerns prior to coming to class. Yoga is a healing discipline that can bring relief to an array of ailments. It is important to be well-informed about our bodies and to take good care of their individual needs. Let your instructor know if you have an injury so that s/he can offer you modifications for an empowering practice.

What if I can’t do the poses? What if I can’t keep up?
Our classes are designed to support you at every level of your practice. That being said, it’s crucial to listen to your body. If you feel discomfort or lose your breath, check in with yourself and see how you’re doing. If you need rest, take rest; if you need water, drink water. Resist the urge to compare yourself to the people around you, and don’t worry if your pose looks different from someone else’s. Your instructor can always give you a modification for any pose. Ask for help— we’ve got your back!
